2016 has seen a lot of changes happening in the industry generally and the Quantity Surveying profession particularly. In view of all these changes, we have decided for this issue to be themed “NEW ERA”.

Assalamualaikum and Greetings everyone! 2015 has been an eventful and colorful year. Our president has welcomed a new line up of the Board Council members. The new council will be introduced in this issue. The new line up coupled with the new editorial team has brought us to the selection of the theme for this issue, innovation.

As a nation, we were tested with double aviation tragedies namely, the mysterious disappearance of MH370 and later the downing of MH17. Welcome to the first issue of QS-Link for the year 2013!
First and foremost, QS-Link would like to congratulate and welcome our new minister and deputy minister. Congratulations to YB Datuk Haji Fadillah bin Yusof for being appointed the new Minster of Works. We would also like to congratulate YB Datuk Rosnah Binti Haji Abdul Rashid Shirlin, for being appointed as the first lady deputy minister in the same Ministry.

Message from the President focused on the New Economic Model (NEM) that will transform Malaysia by 2020 to market driven, well governed, regionally governed, regionally integrated, entrepreneurial and highly innovative nation. The three principles of NEM are – High Income, Sustainability and Inclusiveness. The Quantity Surveyors must seize the opportunities created by the conducive business environment to provide wider range of services.
2009 - 2nd Issue
The Board has moved further into the IT world with the introduction of ReQSys, a web based system for registration and renewal application. It is now mandatory for all members to renew their registration via this system. It has definitely made our life simpler because the transactions can now be done in the comfort of our homes, anytime!
2009 - 1st Issue
The 14th session of the Board has a heavy responsibility to ‘walk the talk’ as outlined in their short, medium and long term strategies, for the survival and betterment of the quantity surveying profession locally and overseas, as emunerated in the president’s message. However, all the Registered Quantity Surveyors must be prepared to render an undivided and committed support to the Board, if we were to achieve the desired results.
